Anxiety Therapy
Is Anxiety Getting in The Way of Daily Life?
Are you frequently overwhelmed or experiencing persistent stress that feels difficult to manage? Do you regularly struggle with:
- Irritability, mood fluctuations, constant worry, or intrusive negative thoughts?
- Physical symptoms such as unexplained headaches, digestive issues, muscle tension, or chronic body pain?
- Restlessness, ongoing fatigue, trouble sleeping, or difficulties with concentration?
Perhaps you’ve experienced a bad panic attack, causing you to avoid certain situations out of fear of triggering another. Maybe your anxiety is getting in the way of daily life. Or, maybe you’re seeking therapy because you suspect your anxiety is linked to deeper, unresolved issues or past traumas.
Understanding Anxiety in the Modern World
The pressures of modern life contribute to anxiety in a big way, with work, family, school, and social expectations all adding to the stress and leaving little (if any!) room for rest and self-care.
It’s no surprise, considering the impact that self-esteem issues, body image concerns, social anxiety, and social media have on all of us. Parents face unique stressors as well, often feeling isolated and overwhelmed with responsibilities that contribute to feelings of inadequacy and anxiety.
Recognizing and calling out these broader social factors can help normalize your experience, especially when you consider that anxiety is often a natural response to stressful environments and doesn’t actually have much to do with any personal inadequacies.

Why Anxiety Counseling Can Be Beneficial
While more people than ever are turning to therapy for anxiety disorder counseling, plenty of barriers to treatment still exist. Financial limitations, poor support at work or school, and the unfortunate social stigma around therapy can get in the way of the help you need.
At Better Life Therapy, we work to overcome these obstacles by providing compassionate, personalized, and accessible anxiety counseling. Our anxiety therapists are experienced in addressing a variety of anxiety-related issues, including social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks, imposter syndrome, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
With counseling, you’ll learn helpful tools for better managing your anxiety, gain deeper insights into your emotional experiences, and discover sustainable ways to enhance your mental wellness.
Regaining Control with Anxiety Therapy
Living with anxiety doesn’t have to mean settling for a diminished life. While anxiety is a natural human response that’s usually healthy in small amounts, chronic and debilitating anxiety requires effective therapy and coping skills. Therapy provides tools to help you regain control over your anxiety, allowing you to live a more normal life.
Our goal at Better Life Therapy is to help you understand and address the underlying emotional concerns that drive your anxiety and, with effective treatment, help you find emotional stability and better mental health overall.
Our Comprehensive and Tailored Approach to Anxiety Therapy
We have more than 40 therapists at Better Life, all of whom are experienced and skilled at treating different forms of anxiety. Your therapist will listen to your story deeply, and with empathy. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment – whether in-person at one of our Denver area offices or virtually, over video.
Because no two people’s anxiety is the same, everyone’s therapy is unique and tailored to their own goals, experiences, and symptoms. Your anxiety counselor will give you the space to share your story at your own pace, safely and with care. We begin by listening deeply and taking time to better understand why you’re here and what you need. Regardless of your symptoms, whether they be panic attacks, social anxiety, relationship struggles, or general stress, our dynamic approach to therapy means your therapist will work with you to create a tailor-made treatment plan that fits you and your goals.
We practice a wide variety of anxiety treatment methods and modalities. Your therapist will carefully consider what might work best for you, but some of our more commonly used proven modalities for anxiety are:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identifying and restructuring negative thought patterns.
- Mindfulness and Meditation: Techniques to promote present-moment awareness and stress reduction.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Methods encouraging acceptance, self-compassion, and meaningful action.
- Motivational Interviewing: Collaborative techniques to enhance motivation toward therapeutic goals.
- Structured Journaling: Tracking anxiety patterns and processing emotions for deeper insight.
Along with journaling, we practice and teach a variety of other coping strategies, like the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise (it’s a helpful one – you name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste). Our goal is to help you manage your anxiety not just in the therapy space, but in regular life as well.
There’s Hope for a Life Free of Chronic Anxiety
Your therapist won’t completely eliminate all anxiety from your life, nor should that be the goal. Rather, your counselor will work collaboratively with you to create a strong foundation for healthier, happier living. While everyone lives with some degree of anxiety, therapy will help you to explore the underlying concerns that make your anxiety especially painful and, with proper understanding and treatment, provide you with long-term skills that can tame and manage your chronic anxiety long-term.
Do You Still Have Questions about Anxiety Therapy?
Will I need anxiety medication? Will my therapist prescribe something for me?
Better Life therapists understand that talk therapy on its own is often (and usually) sufficient to significantly reduce your symptoms and make regular life more manageable. Medication, however, is certainly helpful for some people living with extreme anxiety. Even if you already have a prescription for anxiety medication, it’s significantly more effective when paired with competent, compassionate therapy.
Our therapists do not prescribe medication. If you and your therapist believe that medication may help, we can provide trusted referrals and work with a prescriber to integrate your therapy and medication management.
Do Better Life therapists have experience treating anxiety?
Anxiety is one of the most common issues we treat. All therapists at Better Life Therapy have extensive training, education, and experience in effectively managing anxiety, whether it’s your primary issue or something that came with other mental health issues you’re experiencing.
I’ve tried therapy before, and it made my anxiety worse (or didn’t help). Will therapy be different this time?
Your therapist will foster a judgement-free space where you can be vulnerable and explore your anxiety without fear of misunderstanding or pressure. Your therapist also won’t begin any treatment without first taking the time to listen and fully understand your concerns. If you’ve had a negative experience with therapy in the past, your anxiety counselor will take the time to understand what went wrong and create a treatment plan that accounts for a new, fresh approach.
