FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQ
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! We accept Aetna, Cigna, Medicaid, United Healthcare, and Kaiser. If you would like to know what your out-of-pocket cost will be before your first session, you may call the phone number on the back of your insurance card.
We are happy to bill your insurance for you if we are out of network. If we are out of network, you will pay our rate at each session, and we will send a claim to your insurance company. A check from the insurance company will be sent to you if a payment is due to you. It is important to check your out of network benefits so that you know what your policy will cover for out of network benefits. We will check your out of network benefits as well and let you know.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
You may always call or email your therapist to cancel or reschedule an appointment (email is their firstinitiallastname@betterlifecolorado.com [for example: jsmith@betterlifecolorado.com]).
Our office policy is that all cancellations and reschedules must be 24 hours before the scheduled appointment to avoid a fee. Late cancellations and no shows have a $100 fee that is charged to the client. Insurance cannot be charged for this fee.
What approach do you use in counseling?
Each of our therapists utilizes their own methods and strategies for counseling. We have therapists who use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychodynamic therapy and a clinician who uses the Emotionally Focused Couple’s therapy, for example. If you are seeking a specific method, please notify the intake coordinator so that we can place you with a therapist that utilizes those methods.
What are sessions like?
In the first session, your therapist will ensure you’ve completed our intake forms, discuss confidentiality and other procedures. Then your therapist will begin to hear your story and learn more about you and your goals for therapy.
The second and third sessions are typically a continuation of your story, getting to know you, your strengths and growth needs. We will form goals that are objective, meaning they will be specific, you will know how to reach them, and what life will look like when you reach those goals.
From that point on, sessions are tailored to meeting your goals, with check ins on how you feel progress is being made, changing or adding goals, and helping you feel life satisfaction.
What are your hours?
We are available for Monday-Friday from 7am – 8pm by appointment only.
