Who I Work With

My Approach to Therapy

Whatever you are facing, you are more than the problems you seek to resolve. Your desire to change your experience of life is evidence of the self-care and push for growth within you. Together, we will explore your values, strengths, and what brings you joy. To the extent you choose, we will examine the challenges, difficult emotions, and patterns of behavior – formed for good reason – that are no longer working for you. I seek to provide a welcoming, supportive space where all aspects of the self can be experienced and expressed.

I believe that every person has within them the solutions they need to get to a better place. My role is to remove barriers and ease access to this inherent wisdom. I use tools of mindfulness and body sensation awareness to support increased self-awareness and greater ability to choose in the moment. Through strategies to enhance motivation, acceptance, and commitment, I support a positive shift in what you believe about yourself and your possibilities.

Before coming to Better Life, I spent many years assisting families to address mental health and family relationship concerns while navigating the complexities of the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. I have had the privilege of working with adults of all ages, teenagers, and couples in therapy. In all my roles as a social worker and therapist, I bring my values of deep respect, acceptance, and collaboration.

A little more about me…

I love to dance and to cook. I value spirituality and ceremony, and I am a committed meditator – now practicing heart-based meditation after many years of mindfulness-based meditation. I enjoy being out in nature solo or with dear friends, whether walking, hiking, Nordic skiing, or stand-up paddleboarding.
