My Approach to Therapy

Beginning therapy can feel difficult, stressful, and scary especially when life’s challenges become overwhelming. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, cultural stressors, or relationship concerns you don’t have to navigate this on your own. My approach is to provide a supportive and nonjudgemental space where you can feel heard and empowered to grow at your own pace. Together we can talk about your experiences, focus on your strengths, and explore tools that will support meaningful and lasting change.

I believe profound change begins with a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and integrates interventions from the Adlerian, feminist, CBT, and multicultural modalities. I also have a growing interest in inner child work, mindfulness, and shadow work.

I work with children ages 8 and up, as well as adolescents, and adults. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a culturally responsive space where each person feels accepted and supported as they work toward healing and personal growth.

Aluvia has experience working in both community mental health and substance use recovery settings. She previously worked as a mental health technician at an all-women recovery home where she taught emotional regulation skills and practiced de-escalation interventions while fostering a supportive environment that encouraged recovery and resilience. She also worked as a community mental health case manager and competency educator where she supported individuals navigating the criminal justice system and formed a deeper understanding of trauma-informed care. During her time in this role she collaborated closely with therapists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate client care, gained experience in supporting individuals experiencing persistent mental illness, and connected clients with community resources.

A little more about me…
In my free time I enjoy traveling and discovering new places, including finding hidden gems here in Colorado. I have a six-year-old Maltipoo who is my favorite walking and hiking buddy. I also enjoy activities that help me slow down and recharge such as coloring, stitching, journaling, gaming, trying new recipes, and practicing meditation.
