My Approach to Therapy

As a clinical social work intern, I’m excited to begin working alongside people as they navigate some of life’s most vulnerable moments. I see therapy as a space not for someone to tell you who to be or what to do, but to better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and reconnect with the strengths and values that can guide you forward.

I believe we come to know ourselves through our relationships—with others, with our communities, and with the stories we hold about who we are. Growing up across different cultures and communities has shaped the way I understand identity, belonging, and connection as deeply tied to our well-being. I strive to create a space where clients feel understood and respected, while having the freedom to explore their experiences with honesty and curiosity.

I’m particularly excited to work with adolescents and young adults as I continue developing my clinical skills under supervision. Whether you’re facing a transition, questioning parts of yourself, feeling stuck, or seeking a deeper understanding of your experiences, I hope to offer a collaborative space where you can feel supported in moving toward the life you want to create.

Ivani brings an interdisciplinary background in cognitive science, philosophy, and behavioral health research to her clinical social work training. Before joining Better Life, she worked at the Center for BrainHealth, where she supported human subjects research and partnered directly with participants through every stage of the research process. Her experience also includes developing DBT-based psychoeducational resources under LCSW mentorship, reflecting a longstanding interest in accessible, strengths-based mental health care.

A little more about me…
I spend much of my free time doing the things that help me feel curious and connected: writing poetry and essays, practicing yoga, playing or listening to music, and sharing good conversations (or good food) with friends. I’m endlessly fascinated by philosophy—especially decolonial and feminist thought—and I love exploring the questions that shape how we understand ourselves, one another, and the worlds we inhabit. Whenever I can, I’m off traveling, finding a new favorite coffee shop, or discovering places and stories that remind me there’s always more to learn.
